The storied metal's whirlwind of waves, undulations and swirls is the result of an ancient smithing technique that involves painstakingly folding and hammering red hot steel time and again for sometimes days on end. Finally, the folded steel blank is acid etched to highlight the hundreds - even thousands - of contrasting lines that blanket the blade. The centuries old process is primitive and can only be carried out by careful, skilled hands. No computerized robots. No mechanization at all in fact. The blade is wed to a tastefully simple, onyx-black buffalo horn handle, polished to a mirror shine and accented with brass pins, guards and spacers.
