Very nice set!
PROS: full tang blades, very nice looking set, the wood handle is very nice. Bigger bowie Came sharp, very good quality steel and design.handmade amazing price.
CONS: very small imperfections in the handle where they glued it but it comes off with sandpaper. The sheath is very nice looking but is flimsy and holds blades a little loose.
This is slightly smaller then the western outlaw bowie , im happy with them to add my timber R. Collection defenitly worth the $18 and was sold out for a long time. Glad back in stock

Not Impressed
Bought two sets of these because of all the glowing 5 star reviews. Either most of the reviews are paid/fake or I got a bad batch. None of the knives were very sharp out of the box. Both of the large knives I received were burred and gouged along the blade edge as if someone had already used them for chopping wood. They also had overrun from the wood stain onto the metal in several spots and one of the knives had several small rust spots already forming. The steel on one knife also had a tarnished spot about the size of a pea. Other reviewers have stated that their sheaths were either too loose or too tight - I received one of each. One of the sheaths had a one inch gash that looked like someone dropped the tip of the large knife on it while packaging. The other sheath had a weak point on the clasp for the large knife where the leather was pulling apart out of the box. I expect it to break after 2-3 removals of the knife. Another reviewer stated that the small knife would make a deadly thrower. The small knives are very handle-heavy, no where near being balanced and l would never attempt to throw these.
Pros: the knives are huge. They're full tang. The steel is decent quality for the price. The sheathes seem sturdy and well stitched, except for the defect mentioned above.
For the price, I definitely wasn't expecting a $100 knife, which is why this still gets 2 stars. But the list of defects is too long to give these more than that, especially since both sets had multiple defects. Maybe this is a bad run, maybe I got knives that were returned (however, they don't show any signs that would indicate wear from use aside from the edges). I had hoped to keep one set and give another as a gift and I wouldn't be comfortable giving either one of these sets away. I guess I'll be retouching and sharpening them for my own collection.

great
The large knife is huge yet feels light and is durable. The smaller one can even be thrown with deadly accuracy.
Both are perfectly balanced and tough as other high end knifes like kabar and cold steel but for half the price!
I couldn't be happier with these.

I have been collecting knives for over 20 years, and I've made a personal hobby of hunting down the best prices possible on common and uncommon knives. After discovering the Timber Rattler brand, and being more than happy with the knives I've purchased, I have to admit that these large bowie knives are excellent for collecting and even better for actually carrying and using. Although I don't know the exact grade of stainless steel that is used to craft these impressive blades, I can tell you it's good stuff, it takes and holds an edge sharp enough to skin and field-dress a wild boar, and can chop down 3" thick trees like a hatchet. The handles are put together as tough as nails, and if want to add a brighter shine to the blade and other stainless steel parts, they can be polished like a mirror using ultra-fine sandpaper. Keep in mind when buying Timber Rattler bowie knives that they are largely crafted by hand and will show clear signs of handcrafting, such as tiny imperfections, but to anyone who truly appreciates a knife that was worked by hand, these tiny flaws are actually endearing. Too much perfection can ruin some things, and these big knives look good with a little roughness to them. They are made in Pakistan, so understand that someone has a job because outdoorsman and hunters want big knives at reasonable prices. Personally, I truly love my Timber Rattler bowies, with my favorite being the TR-71 set, which includes a smaller matching knife that is a great little blade all on its own. The leather sheaths are not fake, they are crafted from real leather and are all a little different, due to the pieces being worked by hand. I no longer pay shameful prices for my bowie knives, yet I get the same level of quality and performance. As for the stainless steel blades, I noted that I don't know what grade they are, but they perform exactly like my 1055 to 1060 carbon steel blades, which were far more expensive. I don't write reviews on products, but this time I just had to, because I am astounded at the overall quality that Timber Rattler can put into bowie knives that are nowhere near the $50 mark, I don't know how they do it, but I am a proud Timber Rattler user and collector. Each knife may vary, but to anyone who still appreciates the working man's budget and a great deal, then don't overlook Timber Rattler, and as a closing note, these knives look big in the pictures, but are even bigger in your hand. You will be shocked and impressed at the size of the blade when you take it out of the box; and you won't break it by hitting the woods and doing some primitive work. You will enjoy it.

Couple problems, but totally worth buying it
The pair of blades feel excellent in my hands. The big one has a heavy weight, but is actually quite balanced. Had a couple problems though. First, the big blade had a burr on its edge, luckily it wasn't too bad, so I fixed it with some sharpening. Second problem is opposite of previous reviewer 'Sheath is difficult'. My sheath actually holds the big blade rather loosely, which makes it feel a little odd to me in comparison to some of my other knives with sheaths. Despite that, the leather of the sheath is high quality, and the blade pair is totally worth the purchase for $16.99.

Sheath is difficult
Beautiful set of knives. The smaller one was a little smaller than it looks in the picture but still great set nonetheless. Pretty sharp out of the box but the sheath was rather difficult to get the big knife into. It is ridiculously tight and you feel like you're cutting into it but still fits with effort. Other than that, great set

Impressive
This is the first 2 knife set like this that I have ever bought and I have to say that I'm very pleased with it. Not only are the knives top notch but the leather sheath is also one of the best of any of my fixed blades regardless of manufacturer. It's hard to believe, really, that you can get this set for this price. Even the list price would be a bargain in my opinion. I love knives and have a lot of them, this has to be one of my favorites right now. If you have big hands like me, the handle on the small knife here may seem a little too small at first, but not so much as to really be a reason for complaint. From top to bottom the construction seems solid and capable. The big blade is big yes, but well balanced. It's nice and wide and the handle feels just right in my hand. You could probably chop down a small tree with it if you had to. Go ahead and buy one. It'll be one of the best presents you ever gave to yourself.
