Surprising

Note that this is my first blade, and I am absolutely by no means a practitioner of any sword-art. Came beautiful and unscathed out the box with the blade wrapped in plastic. First thing I noticed was that the entire assembly was firm and did not jiggle one bit. No funny "loose" sounds when shaking it around, and the blade itself is quite sharp straight out of the box. Being just as ecstatic as any other first-time blade owner, I took it out and sliced a few bottles and gallons filled with water. Clean cuts, no resistance, and as light as the water bottles are, it wouldn't even knock/jiggle the bottle off the table. Target would sit nice and steady. Now- toughness. As I've stated, I am by no means a practitioner of any sort in the world of swords. At one point I gave quite a sloppy hard swing being overly-confident in the blade, and I knocked a hard-plastic gallon filled with water away a solid 15-20 feet away (I essentially baseballed it quite hard by accident, it gave a violent vibration through my arms). I was practically 100% sure that I bent/warped the blade, but shockingly, not a lick of damage was made to the blade. No warping, no bending, no chips. Not a single thing. That won my vote. Anybody who's scared that this blade might be a bit cheap just because it's barely above $100, rest assured, this thing is quite willing to eat a mistake or two. Perfect first blade for practice, or just some backyard slicing. Keep in mind I'm not saying that this thing is immortal, but it certainly is tougher than I anticipated it would be.

Absolutely fascinating katana... I researched a lot of katana's, as well as material's, crafting processes's, and many other thing's before making my choice and buying this... This is literally the only blade i found for under $500 that's 1060+, has a real hamon from a real clay hardening process, and is differentially hardened, and even at the $500 price point most fell short of this... there is a downside to this blade. it is not as sharp as it could be, despite still being sharp enough to fillet a finger if you touch it wrong... I give 4 star's because my fitting's were loose, they offered to replace it, and to even send a guy to my house to pick it up and whatnot(so its no cost to me)... i declined, deciding the blade quality on mine is amazing, and not wanting to risk that... this sword cuts well, i imagine short of other steel, and of course diamond's, it will go through anything you put in front of it(WARNING: proper skill is required to use a katana correctly, damage due to improper training is your fault alone)... its still fairly winter like at my house, ruling out the majority of my cutting test's, but it easily cleave's soft target's(cardboard, pop bottle's, etc), and be careful on them, as it goes through them very quickly... have yet to test many harder target's, but it can slice half inch oak branches easily(both green and seasoned), as well as pvc and dowel... i spent a half hour this morning cutting tree limb's, not a single nick ding scratch or anything... anyone online attempting to claim this sword is cheaply made merely needs better training... what are you waiting for? BUY THIS ALREADY...

I purchased this Musashi 1060 katana a few weeks ago. Upon arrival, I opened the box and examined the sword. I was impressed with the overall quality of the sword but unimpressed with the blade. On this website it is still listed as having an "extremely sharp hand-honed edge. However, it can't even cut paper and it practically safe to run my fingers down the edge because it isn't even sharp. The $10 cheap knife I bought from here wasn't very sharp either but it was far sharper than this katana. I called customer service and after several attempts got an answer and told the lady everything, and she said she would have someone check the listing and check to see if the other Musashi katanas were sharp, and if they were, to send mine back for Andrew replacement (other than me having to pay for shipping, and waiting of course), and said she would give me a call back the next day, and if they are busy, the following day. Unsurprisingly I never got a call back and got no answer when I called back several days later. My overall feelings of all of this: Buy this sword only if you plan on sharpening it yourself
Response: Thank you for contacting us, Nick. We apologize for not getting back to you, and we strive to continually improve our customer service. Thank you for this feedback; it will be used to improve the True Swords customer experience. Also, your sword should have been sharpened when it arrived to you. Please contact us again at 800-735-3326 if you are still unhappy with your purchase, and we will be happy to offer a refund or exchange. Thanks again.

I would just say that this sword is beautiful! Well put together, nicely weighted, the tsuba is thick, pictures don't do it justice. The blade came in excellent condition, the hamon clear and real, just a great looking sword. Yes the blade comes sharp enough to do some medium cuts. This is my second katana and while i am not an expert, i can say that this sword gives plenty of quality for the price.

For a 90 dollar sword it was made very well. Seems durable enough. It did not come sharp but that was an easy fix. You can't go wrong for the price without paying at least 200 for another katana with the same or less quality.

Absolutely stunning katana. The blade is substantial, unlike stainless steel replicas. You can see and feel the difference. Silky smooth and deadly. Everything about it is tight and pristine, and screams of craftsmanship. The edge, although not razor sharp, is still very sharp. There is only one thing that would make it better ... a matching Wakizashi!!!

This sword is more than worth the money you pay for it. Quality blade and fixtures. If your looking to expand or start a collection this and many other Musashi products are the best buys.
